Stronger science. Smarter decisions. Better tomorrows.
Energy. Water. Soils. Critical minerals. Technological innovation. Hazard resilience. Robust communities. National security. All depend on one thing: geoscience.
When society invests in geoscience, it drives competitiveness, progress, and thriving prosperity. When it does not, the very enterprise that powers modern society faces systemic weaknesses, workforce gaps, and lost potential. That is where we find ourselves today. Together we can reverse this trend.
The problem
Our economic strength and environmental resilience rely on geoscientists — but:
- Workforce pipelines are thinning as retirements are accelerating.
- Policy decisions often lack informed, trusted Earth science input.
- Critical geoscience data systems need modernization.
- Cross-sector coordination and collaboration are hamstrung.
In a time of rising risk — natural hazards, climate threats, infrastructure stress, and energy and mineral security — the geoscience enterprise must rise to meet the moment.
The solution: Geoscience Enterprise Rising
Geoscience Enterprise Rising is a strategic initiative of AGI, the nonprofit federation representing more than 60 geoscience societies and 250,000 geoscientists, to strengthen and future-proof the entire geoscience enterprise.
AGI is uniquely equipped to meet this challenge. No other organization integrates workforce, education, research, data, and policy across the full geoscience enterprise.
Through the Geoscience Enterprise Rising initiative, AGI is advancing energy independence, critical mineral supply chains, hazard resilience, infrastructure planning, and environmental stewardship.
